Elßholzstraße 30 , 10781 , Berlin
Berlin, Germany

During the Third Reich, the Kammergericht put itself at the service of the Nazi regime. It supported Nazi legislation with its rulings. The judges sentenced at least 69 resistance fighters and forced laborers to death between 1943 and 1945. The various trials of the People's Court took place in the buildings of the Court of Appeals. This special political court dealt with cases of high treason and treason against the Nazi regime. The show trial of the murderers of July 20, 1944 plot also took place in the plenary hall of the Kammergericht. On Hitler's orders, the trial was filmed, during which the defendants were humiliated, insulted and scolded.
