In Menden a plaque commemorates the destruction of the Jewish community and its synagogue. The text reads: "In honor of the Jewish citizens of our city, who lost their lives in the years of Nazi tyranny. Their synagogue stood on this site and was destroyed in November. 1938. in 1952 the remains of the synagogue where removed and this plaque was placed.
