Billeting Stay Adolf Hitler
966 Rue Faidherbe, Fournes-en-Weppe
Hauts-de-France, France
Adolf Hitler was billeted in this butcher's shop in 1916. The building was visited by Hitler on 26 June 1940. During the Second World War, the butcher's shop was permanently guarded and a sign hung there with the inscription: "In diesem Quartier lag 1916 unser Fuehrer Adolf Hitler as Soldat des Bayr. JNF. RGT. List" Swastika flags hung on either side of the board. The sign can now be viewed in the Fromelles museum. The hooks on the building to which the sign was attached can also still be viewed.
