A group of Canadian journalists (including Marcel Ouimet and Matthew Halton), war photographers and filmmakers settled in this former Belle-Plage hotel at 10.30am on 6 June 1944. They had landed on June Beach shortly after the first waves of landings and were reporting on the landings from this location.
