As a thank you for the support during the Hunger Winter of 1944-1945), Ajax presented a plaque to Heerenveen on behalf of four Amsterdam clubs, just before the mutual match on Saturday evening, October 16, 2021 In the winter of 1944-1945, the then VV Heerenveen started an aid campaign to help football players aged 12 to 14 from Ajax, DWS, Blauw-Wit and De Volewijckers.
