In the early morning of February 9, 1945, the Focke Wulf FW190G of the only 24-year-old Anton crashed along the Zuiderzee coast in Ermelo. Anton was assigned to the 1st Staffel of Nachtslachtgeschwander 20 (1.NSGr.20). Anton climbed out of his plane after his crash. He later died of his injuries in the meadow.
