Monument in memory of the liberation of Caumont-l'Éventé by the U.S. 1st Infantry Division, commanded by Major General Clarence Huebner. They landed on Omaha Beach on Tuesday, June 6, 1944. On Monday, June 12, they began the attack on Caumont-l'Éventé. With reinforcements and the support of armored vehicles, the city was liberated the next morning, Tuesday, June 13.
