Battle Damage Oberbaumbrucke
Oberbaumbrücke, 10243, Berlin
Berlin, Germany

On April 23, 1945, the Oberbaumbrucke was blown up by the Germans, whereby only the middle part between the 2 towers was largely destroyed. The rest of the bridge remained fairly intact. After the war, the bridge was temporarily repaired. On photo 1 you can see that the part between the 2 towers has been replaced by a metal bridge part, however the complete renovation only took place after the fall of the wall as the bridge was in the Russian and American sectors. On the arches of the Oberbaumbrucke you can still see the bullet impacts of the fighting that took place here at the end of April and the beginning of May during the Battle of Berlin.
