This memorial pays tribute to the 157 Grenadiers of 2GR who fell on 10 & 11 May 1940 The 2nd Grenadiers was part of the 7th Infantry Division (1st Army Corps) The 2nd Gr was set up in the southern sector of the Albert Canal with the bridges of Kanne, Ternaaien and Klein-Ternaaien. The Fort of Eben-Emael was also located in the sector of the 2nd Gr.
