Former Freight Station Weimar

Weimar
Thüringen, Germany

More than 50,000 prisoners arrived at this former goods station during World War II to be transferred from here to Buchenwald concentration camp or one of its sub-camps. In the cattle auction room, Jews from Thuringia were gathered by the Gestapo in May 1942 to be deported from here to the Bełżyce ghetto in Poland. Almost all of them were subsequently murdered in concentration and extermination camp Majdanek. An information panel points out this history on site.
