The house of Walraven van Hall and his family once stood on this location. Now there is an apartment complex called the 'De Bankier'. The name is the nickname of Walraven van Hal. A saying about Walraven (Wally) is included on the facade of the complex: "When Wally came in, everyone was happy in five minutes." The address Westzijde 42 in Zaandam played a major role in the resistance during the war years. The resistance met in the house and made plans and provided funding for the resistance.
