Leeuwerikheide, 2400, Mol
Antwerp, Belgium

When the Allies advanced into Belgium, the German ERLA repair plants were evacuated. Therefore, the Messerschmitt Bf 110G-4 with work number 480113 also had to be flown from Brussels to a new base on August 30, 1944. In our area, the 1./Flugzeugüberfüringsgeschwader 1 West of the German Luftwaffe was responsible for these transition flights. Above the railroad bridge in Balen, the aircraft was shot down by Allied fighters and it crashed at the Spoorwegdreef. The two occupants lost their lives. Both victims are buried at the German military cemetery in Lommel. Crew: Ofw. Asperger Christian Pilot Ogefr. Kauer Josef Radio operator
