Memorial for Polish Mountaineers

On 29th May 2022 a Polish memorial was placed in the churchyard of the H. Mariachurch in Breda. This is to commemorate the soldiers of the Mountaineer Battallion of the 1st Polish Armoured Division. They stayed here during the night of 28th to 29th October 1944 in the nearby Mariachurch. The plaque reads: To commemorate the soldiers of the Mountaineer Battalion 1. Polish Armoured Division The liberators of the city of Breda For the occasion of the 130. birthday of Gen. Stanislaw Maczek Breda 31-03-2022
