In the memorial park at the General Cemetery on the Enschedesestraat is a so-called Anne Frank tree. A seedling of the chestnut from the garden of the Secret Annex that was planted together with the municipality of Ahaus. That same day, 1 was also planted together at a location in Ahaus, Germany, a municipality just across the border.
