Between June 1942 and February 1944, the headquarters of the Reichsministerium für die besetzten Ostgebiete (RMfdbO), or "Ostministerium" (RMO), was located here. The building was completely destroyed during an aerial bombardment in February 1944. Today, a section of the Russian embassy building is standing here.
