Speech De Gaulle
Avenue du Général de Gaulle, Rocroi
Grand-Est, France

In August 1940, France was defeated by the German army. French Prime Minister Philippe Pétain announced that he would ask for an armistice. However, the French general Charles de Gaulle did not give in and decided to continue the fight from London as leader of the Free French. From London he addressed the French with a radio message. The full text of this speech can be found in Rocroi, near the ramparts. "To all French France has lost a battle! But France has not lost the war! ……………… .. Long live France ! General De Gaulle "
