The Palace of Westminster was hit by German bombs on 14 separate occasions during the Second World War. Reconstruction work lasted until the 50's. Damage from the bombings are still visible at some locations within the palace, including above the entrance to the House of Commons. Statues of Churchill, Clement Attlee and Margaret Thatcher are residing within the palace.
