This memorial commemorates the raid, which was held in Sliedrecht and Hardinxveld, on 16 May 1944, after the killing of two Dutch collaborators by the Resistance. The Germans captured 589 men with an age between 18 and 25 years. Almost all of them were send to the Amersfoort camp. Within 7 weeks many of them were released, but the others were send to labour camps in Germany. 26 of them died there.
