War Memorial Secret Army Belsele

Monument of the Secret Army placed in honor of the resistance fighters who died in the vicinity of the monument. On September 5, 1944, eight members of the Secret Army were killed there in a fateful encounter with some German soldiers. Later that day, another member of the resistance movement was killed. Their names are written on the monument with the text below: "They gave their lives for freedom monarch and fatherland " At the bottom of the monument are also the names of all resistance fighters of the Secret Army sector Sint-Niklaas - who died in a concentration camp, were missing or shot. In addition, also the name of one civilian victim.
