Commandants House Belzec
Lwowska 56, 22-670, Belzec
Lublin, Poland
Around 17-03-1942 the actual Aktion Reinhard program started in Bełżec, with the aim of exterminating all (Polish) Jews, and within 10 months more than 600,000 people were killed here. Under the command of camp commander Christian Wirth (murdered in Italy in 1944), succeeded by Gottlieb Hering (died in fall 1945 in field hospital in Heilbronn) an indescribable terror was exerted. The commander's house is still located a few hundred meters from the former concentration camp, on the E 372 main road in Bełżec. The building was renovated around 2019/2020, see photo 5 left building.
