House Commander Camp Albert Konrad Gemmeker Westerbork

Between 1942 and 1945, camp commander Albert Konrad Gemmeker lived in front of Camp Westerbork grounds in the Second World War. The director's residence is the only structure of the original refugee camp. After the Nazi's took over the camp in 1942, the house was taken into use as a Kommandantswoning. The building was designated as a [i]rijksmonument[/i] in 1995. In 2015, a glass roof was placed over the building to prevent decay.
