Fort "Ujście" (Münde) & Lighthouse

bulwar Jana Szymańskiego 4, Kołobrzeg
West Pomeranian, Poland

This fort was constructed from 1770 to 1774 and was the last remaining stronghold of the German garrison during the battle of Kolberg in 1945. On top of the fort stands a lighthouse with on its outer walls the following year numbers: "1939-1945" and a large memorial plaque with tribute to the Polish army during the Second World War. It stood originally in front of the fort, but was blown up by the German Army because of the fear that it would become an easy target spot for the Polish artillery men during the battle of Koloberg.
