Fort 49 "Krzesławice" was constructed between 1872 and 1878 as part of the Austrian-Hungarian Festung Krakau. On 19 January 1945, a group of German soldiers turned this fort into a stronghold, but surrendered quickly after a short and heavy skirmish with the Red Army. [b]The fort today:[/b] It is currently owned of an organization, but it can be accessed from the rear.
