Belgian Graves Veterans Schaarbeek
Everestraat, 4, 1140, Evere (Brussel)
Flemish-Brabant, Belgium
The cemetery of Schaarbeek, located in the territory of Evere, contains plots of honour with the graves of veterans, former resistance fighters, former prisoners of war and political prisoners of the First and the Second World War. Other graves of veterans are scattered around the cemetery. There is the grave of Andrée de Jongh (1919-2007), a Belgian resistance fighter. She founded and organised the Comet Escape Line in the Second World, the route from Belgium through France to Spain used by hundreds of Allied airmen to escape from Nazi-occupied Europe.
