Arbeitserziehungslager Sikawa was built by the German occupation force and used from 12 March 1943 to 18 January 1945. The NKVD re-used the complex (January-April 1945) as internment camp for volksdeutsche (april 1945 - 1948) and POW camp for German officers (1948-1950). The prison is still in use.
