This cemetery is the old garrison cemetery for the German navy. There are militairy graves of before, during and after the world wars, including graves of (famous) Kriegsmarine veterans. There is also a large CWGC plot with the graves of Commonwealth and Polish WW2 casualties. A plot for Soviet POW's and forced laborers is located on a different cemetery part. This cemetery contains the graves of the following veterans: - Erich Johann Raeder. Raeder was a German admiral and commander in chief of the war fleet (Kriegsmarine). He served Hitler's war policy until he was replaced in 1943. At the Nuremberg Trial, Raeder was sentenced to life imprisonment; in 1955 he was released. - Rotmistrz Jan Pniewski. Polish Army. He died in 1949.
