Jewish Ghetto of Slonim

Slonim
Hrodna, Belarus

This Jewish ghetto stood here from 1941 to 1942. On 29 June 1942, a revolt took place. At least five Germans were killed and many others wounded. The ghetto was burned down in retaliation and mass executions followed. Between 8000 and 13.000 people were murdered. The 18th century Great Synagoge survived, but has been disused.
