The Hanfort Site is a nuclear production complex which started in 1943 as part of the Manhattan-Project. Other names for the complex were Hanford Works, Hanford Engineer Works, Hanford Nuclear Reservation (HNR) and the Hanford Project. Located on the complex is the B-reactor, the first Plutonium-reactor in the world, where the Plutonium for the first atomic bomb and the bomb on Nagasaki was made. After the was, the complex expanded to 9 reactors. They are now closed but the complex is still operational. The B-reactor is now a National Historic Site. Guided tours are possible. The complex also has two visitors centers with information.
