Cemetery Victims "Cap Arcona" and "Thielbeck"

This cemetery contains the remains of 1,128 victims of the sunken ships "Cap Arcona" and "Thielbeck". On 3 May 1945, the ships were sunk by Allied planes while they were packed with prisoners, mainly of the Neuengamme concentration camp. Very few prisoners survived this disaster. Until 1971, bones of victims washed ashore.
