Train Station Berchtesgaden

Built many years before Nazi Germany, it was reconstructed, however and opened again in February 1940 with a new and expanded architectural design based on Nazi styles. It was used by millions of German visitors as they made their way to Obersalzberg to catch a glimpse of Hitler during the 1930s. Many original signage is still visible inside and outside the building. Hitler had a special entrance and exit to provide him with some privacy and, of course, for safety. (street side photo 6 + platform side photo 7) The original flag standards are still there, if the swastika flag was there, Hitler was in Berchtesgaben. (picture 3) Inside hardly changed. (photo 4) Post office / Postamt hardly changed, only the swastika has disappeared. Still clearly visible where the eagle with swastika sat. (photo 5)
