Maginot Line - Fort Boussois

This Maginot-fort was built from 1934 to 1938 on top of an older fortress as part of the [i]Secteur fortifié de Maubeuge[/i] of the Maginot line. The fort began firing on German formations on 19 May 1940. The German 28th Infantry Division replied with artillery fire at short range. Fort Boussois was also attacked by Stuka's. A German ground assault was repelled on the 21th. The garrison surrenderd at 1100 hours on 22 May 1940. [b]The fort today:[/b] Fort Boussois is currently still military property.
